VANCOUVER, Wash. — Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza is celebrating its 25th anniversary in a year it opened its first international unit and is approaching the 1,000-store mark.
According to a news release, the company, founded in 1981, also was named Best Pizza Chain in America in Restaurants & Institutions magazine's annual "Choice in Chains" survey, marking its fourth consecutive receipt of that award.
"We are proud of our 2006 accomplishments," said John Barr, chief executive officer. "Our ability to offer high quality and great value to our customers is directly linked to the outstanding operators who represent our brand in their stores every day."
This summer, the first international Papa Murphy's unit opened in Vancouver, B.C., and five more will open in Canada by the end of the year. Additionally, more than 90 percent of the chain's units are being updated with a new look that includes warmer interior colors, a new makeline system and menu boards, and self-service merchandising of add-on products, such as ready-to-bake desserts.
