SAN JOSE, Calif. — VeriFone Holdings Inc. announced an international marketing alliance with D-Link to foster the adoption of Wi-Fi enhanced electronic transactions solutions.
According to a news release, the two companies will collaborate to provide merchants with expertise and installation assistance in establishing Wi-Fi based transaction networks.
"To set up a small Wi-Fi network is easy, as millions of consumers have demonstrated, but when it comes to setting up a private network with multiple access points in an area such as a mall that already has public networks, then merchants are looking for expertise and experience to ensure their needs are met," said William Nichols, VeriFone vice president.
VeriFone and D-Link have teamed up on several projects in Latin America and Asia, including the world's first Wi-Fi payment solution, installed in the San Marino Mall in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2003.
Last week, VeriFone formed an alliance with POS provider MICROS. (Read also MICROS and VeriFone form alliance)
According to a news release, MICROS will resell VeriFone's customer-facing electronic payment solutions, including the new Vx 670 mobile payment system fully integrated with MICROS RES 4.0.
