ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Limited-service pizza chains grabbed the top spots for foodservice companies in an annual consumer preference study conducted by the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
According to a news release, the study, known as the American Customer Satisfaction Index, saw scores in the fast-food category overall improve by 1 percent to 77, the highest-ever score for the industry.
For the seventh year in a row, Papa John's took the segment's top spot with a score of 79, up 1 percent from 2005. Little Caesar's came in second at 77, up 4 percent, while Pizza Hut leapt 7 percent to score a 76. Domino's Pizza also showed a significant gain with its 75, a 6 percent increase.
Segment leader McDonald's was far behind with a score of 63, a 2 percent improvement on last year's number. Burger King scored a 70. Pizza Hut's Yum! Brands siblings KFC and Taco Bell each scored 70.
