BRISBANE, Australia — Domino's Pizza Australia New Zealand Ltd. is conducting a limited online ordering test at four units in its headquarters city.
According to a news release, once the trial is complete, the company plans to expand online ordering to its entire 406-unit system over the next two years.
The quick and easy-to-use system allows customers to choose a crust option and toppings from the complete list of ingredients. The system also remembers each customer's previous orders for fast reordering.
Don Meij, chief executive of DPANZ, said he expected more than half of Domino's Pizza stores to be Internet-order enabled by June 2006, with the remainder likely to convert over by the end of 2007.
"The new system is an example of how we are using innovation to make it easier for customers to order from us," Meij said. "The major advantage of our Internet order system is that orders bypass the front counter and go straight to the pizza make line, making the order process much faster."
The company's research shows that 65 percent of frequent pizza consumers use broadband Internet access three or more times per week.
