AUSTIN, Texas—Austin's Pizza has rolled out the city's first low-carb pizza.
According to a news release, the new pizza dough contains only 6 grams of carbohydrates per slice—nearly 85 percent fewer carbs per slice than typical pizza doughs.
Customers can build their own Low-Carb pizza or choose from one of two Low-Carb Favorites, including High-Protein/Low-Carb and Low-Fat/Low-Carb.
"Austinites who care about their health and have adopted a low-carb diet have given up foods they used to enjoy. Pizza is usually one of them," said Clay McLaughlin, executive vice-president and founder of Austin's Pizza. "But today you can order any of our pizzas and satisfy your palate as well as your conscience. You can have your pizza, and eat it, too."
Thirteen-unit Austin's Pizza sells brick-oven-baked pizzas topped with a selection of 30 gourmet toppings.
