DETROIT--John Dean Anderson has been identified as the pizza delivery driver shot to death while delivering pizzas for Steve's Pizza Island on the night of Feb. 17.

According to WXYZ.com, however, the owner of Steve's (who was not named in the report) said Anderson was not a paid employee of the shop; he was delivering pizzas as a favor for a friend employed by Steve's.

A 911 call led police to Anderson's car, where they found him slumped over the steering wheel. He was rushed to the hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say the victim was found with money, making robbery an unlikely motive for the shooting.
