MORRISTOWN, N.J.—Villa Pizza has announced plans to open up a flagship location in Times Square on the corner of 42nd Street and 8th Avenue.
According to a news release, the new unit is expected to open in the spring of 2004.
Michele Scotto, founder and chairman of the board of Villa Pizza, opened his first pizzeria in 1964 on Broadway next to the Ed Sullivan Theatre.
"We are going back for our 40th anniversary and anticipate great success in this location," said Adam Torine, director of business development for Villa Enterprises. "We look forward to developing more stores in New York City."
Villa Pizza is owned by Villa Enterprises, a mall-centered pizza concept. Villa Pizza serves three varieties of pizza, made from fresh dough, as well as pastas, hot sandwiches, salads and deserts.
In addition, Villa Enterprises operates Cozzoli's Pizza and a broad range of other foodservice brands, such as Greenleaf's Grille, Treat Street, South Philly Steaks & Fries, Casa Java and Everything Yogurt & Salad Cafe. The company operates 300 units (200 of which are pizza sites) in 38 states.
