LIMA, Ohio—The influence of Pizza Hut's purchase of the Pasta Bravo concept last year is manifesting itself at 21 U.S. units.
According to the Lima News, a restaurant here is one among those offering a new bistro menu featuring eight new pastas, nine bistro pizzas and five toasted sandwiches.
To introduce locals to the new fare, the Lima Pizza Hut sent out 190 invitations for a tasting party held a few weeks ago.
"It's just a way to offer more choices and more reasons for people to come back to Pizza Hut," Sharron Cole, Northern Ohio Pizza Co. director of marketing, said of the new menu.
Cole said the bistro menu likely will change a few times before the final national rollout. During the test phase, customers will be invited to vote for dishes they like best.
Despite its emphasis on the new menu, Pizza Hut's bistro fare will not replace the favorite foods that made it famous, the report said.
To enhance service by boosting interaction with customers, waiters and waitresses will have fewer tables per station. Dining rooms in some units will be upgraded as well.
"Even the dining room smells good," Cole said. "The smells are totally different than what they used to be."
