LOS ANGELES -- California Pizza Kitchen Inc. revenues increased 16.2 percent to $87.9 million for the second quarter ended June 29 from $75.6 million during the same period last year, according to a news release.

Restaurant comp sales increased 2.3 percent during the three-month period. The company said it was comfortable with its previously announced outlook for earnings per share of 21 cents to 23 cents, based on the second quarter same-store sales.

CPK opened 10 new restaurants so far this year, six of which were opened in the second quarter. It expects to open a minimum of 12 additional restaurants by year's end, according to the release.
