NEW BEDFORD, Mass. -- Twenty-year-old Christopher Pereira was arrested on June 22 and charged for his alleged role in robbing and torturing a pizza delivery driver. Police are looking for three other suspects in the crime.
According to the Boston Herald, as an unidentified 24-year-old Sarducci's Pizza driver made a delivery to an apartment, several men jumped him, gagged him, beat and tied him up, and burned him with cigarettes. Then they carried him outside, stuffed him in the trunk of a car and drove off.
The victim managed to untie himself, but the assailants opened the trunk and stabbed him as he tried to fight back, the report said.
The report did not say how the victim was released, only that he was hospitalized. His condition was not released.
Pereira was later arrested on an outstanding motor vehicle theft warrant and ultimately charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder.
