MELVILLE, N.Y. -- All six of Sbarro units in Spain have been shuttered in the wake of a franchisee's February bankruptcy declaration.

According to the Financial Times, a Belgian investor group that owns the franchise also owes creditors more than $11 million.

The report cited high rental costs as a key reason for closing the outlets.
