ATLANTA -- Check out some of the audacious toppings available at the newest PieWorks restaurant in Suwannee, Ga.: rattlesnake sausage, alligator, buffalo sausage, ostrich and Spam.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, if that doesn't turn you on, there are 157 other tasty but arguably tempting bites, such as jelly beans, blueberries, scrambled eggs, dill pickles, spaghetti or hot dogs.
Um, got any pepperoni or mushrooms?
"The idea is you can come here and have anything you want on a pizza -- within reason," PieWorks' chief operating officer Andrew Gates told the AJC.
The company is based in Greensboro, N.C., and has five U.S. stores.
Suwannee store franchisee Joe Profit wants to open nine more PieWorks in Gwinnett County (which shares a section of Metro Atlanta) over the next decade.
Profit, an Atlanta Falcons running back in the 1970s, said the concept is better viewed as a casual dining restaurant rather than a pizza joint because it also sells sandwiches, salads, beer, wine and desserts.
The store runs an interesting kids-under-12 promo called Kids Rule. With a one-time purchase of a $14 plate, kids eat for free every time they bring the plate back.
According to Gates, Spam is the least-requested of the unconventional array of toppings, though many adventurous souls try the ostrich and alligator.
