EDINBURGH, Scotland -- In its latest bid to build its share of the UK fast-food market, Pizza Hut UK is testing its Top 'n' Roll pizza at restaurants in Edinburgh.
According to the Financial Times, Whitbread Group, Pizza Hut's UK master franchisee, is testing the fajita-style product at its restaurants in Edinburgh.
Top 'n' Roll is a rectangular, thin-crust pizza delivered to diners' tables with a platter of toppings and two sauces. Customers use the ingredients to construct their own pizzas, which they then roll up to eat.
Pizza Hut hasn't said how long the Top 'n' Roll test will last, but if it meets expectations, the company expects to launch it across the UK.
Pizza Hut has 500 UK outlets; 340 are dine-in restaurants and 160 are delivery shops. It ultimately wants 880 UK stores, and its spending £75 million (U.S. $118 million) on the addition of another 75 outlets this year.
