• Pizzeria worker stabbed following closing

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- A 43-year-old pizzeria employee was stabbed in the chest as he closed the shop at 11 p.m. on Sept 6.

According to the New Britain Herald, the unidentified worker said that as he attempted to enter his car that night, a male came from behind him, put a knife to his throat and demanded money.

When the worker tried to fight off the robber by kicking him from the driver's seat, he was stabbed in the right side of his chest.

He later was treated for the non-life-threatening wound at a local hospital.

** In other crime news, a gunman robbed an Elgin, Ill., delivery driver of $120 on the night of Sept. 8. According to the Chicago Tribune, the victim, a driver for Italian Dreams, said the robber pointed a gun at him through his car window and demanded cash. The driver was not injured.
