AKRON, Ohio -- A Castle Pizza Shop customer who complained about a grease stain on his shorts wound up hospitalized after a confrontation with the store's owner.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Raymond Norman, 20, bought a sandwich at Castle Pizza and left the store. Minutes later he returned to complain about an oil stain on his pants and demanded a free bottle of soda as compensation.
The shop's owner, Talal Althefery, 24, refused, and a fight broke out when Althefery threatened to call police. Using a receipt spike, Althefery struck Norman in the back of the head.
Norman stopped breathing, lost consciousness and fell and hit his head. He is in serious condition at Akron General Medical Center with a puncture wound and head injuries, police said.
When Althefery called the police, he told dispatchers his store had been robbed and that he had pushed Norman, records show.
Althefery and Sultan Al-Ismainy, 24, of Canton, a shop worker, also tried to hide the receipt spike, police said.
No criminal charges have been filed.
