• Goodfella's inks two deals for 20 new stores

NEW YORK -- Globe Restaurant Group, Inc., parent of the Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta concept, announced the completion of two separate area development agreements to open 20 pizza stores.

According to a release, Globe operates four franchise stores and one corporate store. It expects to open six stores in 2002.

Franchise Acquisitions Group Corp. signed on to open 10 stores in New York, northern New Jersey and Connecticut.

RG Operating Company, LLC, plans to develop another 10 sites in southern New Jersey, Philadelphia and northern Delaware.

Globe expects to open its next Goodfella's store in Burlington, N.J., July 1. The unit is a 6,800-square-foot free-standing facility.

In the past several years, Goodfella's pizzas have been voted "Industry's Best Pizza," twice by Pizza & Pasta magazine, and "Pizza of the Year," once by Pizza Today magazine.

The company recently broadened its menu to include steaks roasted in the stores' 900 F wood-fired ovens.
