WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Center for Science in the Public Interest, the organization which a decade ago dubbed an entrée portion of fettuccini Alfredo "a heart attack on a plate," is holding a May 17 press conference to reveal its findings from a study it conducted on pizza.
Titled, Study To Reveal What One Of America's Favorite Foods Really Delivers, the research examines pizza's calorie, fat, saturated fat, and sodium content, and makes recommendations for consumers about healthful selections, including one pizza that earned the group's "Best Bite" rating.
CSPI has become both infamous and famous for its calorie- and fat-content studies on movie theater popcorn, Chinese food and other restaurant meals. Its pizza findings will be published in the June issue of its Nutrition Action Healthletter, and in a new book, Restaurant Confidential (Workman, 2002).
