RICHMOND, British Columbia -- Boston Pizza International Inc. has hired Canadian-born comedian and actor Howie Mandel as its new spokesman.
According to a release, the 30-second TV and radio commercials began running May 13. In them, Mandel mixes and mingles with Boston Pizza customers, all the while touting the theme "you're always among friends at Boston Pizza."
Mandel earned his star status playing Dr. Wayne Fiscus on "St. Elsewhere," and for his Emmy award-nominated animated children's series "Bobby's World." He is also a regular on the "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
Boston Pizza International Inc. has more than 160 restaurants in Canada and the U.S., and is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. Its 2001 sales exceeded CAN $300 million (U.S. $192 million).
