AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- Fast-food operator Restaurant Brands reported a $23.3 million (NZ) after-tax profit for the 15-month period begun in January 2001 and ending February '02.
The company, which franchises more than 300 Pizza Hut, KFC and Starbucks stores, has changed its balance date from Nov. 30 to Feb. 28, resulting in the extended reporting period.
In January, the company reported a 12-month profit of $12.2 million (up from $9.8 million the previous year) for the period ending Dec. 30, '01.
For the November '01 to February '02 quarter, Restaurant Brands reported a sales increase of 9.6 percent, totaling $63.2 million, compared with $57.7 million for the same period a year ago.
In late March, the firm acquired 51 Pizza Hut stores in Victoria, Australia.
