ORLANDO -- McDonald's franchisee, Gary Oerther, knows how to draw kids to Ronald's table: sell Happy Meals, build a playground and they'll come.
Now the 59-year-old is seeking to turn some same-aged peers into customers of his new custom-built McDonalds in Orlando, Fla. According to a report published in The Wall Street Journal, Oether's McDonald's menu includes gourmet pizzas, (which cook in five minutes), lattes, and hand-dipped ice cream. For traditionalists, standard McDonald's burgers are also available. Oerther is even considering alcohol service, which is available at the company's European outlets.
The structure -- sans playground -- includes 14-foot-high ceilings, pool tables, golf and video games. At $2.5 million, the store more than double the $1 million price tag attached to traditional McDonald's.
