• Fourth quarter '01 revenue and comp sales up at CEC

IRVING, Texas -- CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese's reported its fourth-quarter 2001 earnings were up 13 percent over 2000. The company credited strong sales in new and existing stores.

The 375-store "eatertainment" chain posted net income of $10.4 million (37 cents per diluted share), compared with '00 net income of $9.3 million.

Revenue for the quarter climbed 13 percent, to $129.8 million from $115.4 million a year ago.

Comparable store sales at restaurants opened at least one year rose 4.4 percent in the period, and 2.6 percent for the entire year.
