PLANO, Texas -- Pizza Inn, Inc. today reported earnings per share (EPS) for its fiscal year second quarter, ended Dec. 23, of 6 cents, versus 5 cents for the same quarter last year.
The 432-store chain posted net income of $567,000 versus $529,000, on revenues of $15.6 million, versus $15.5 million for the same period last year.
Comparable chain-wide same-store sales finished up 1.7 percent for the second quarter.
For the first two quarters of its fiscal year, the company reported an EPS of 11 cents, versus 11 cents last year.
Net income was $1,157,000 compared to $1,175,000 on revenues of $32.4 million versus $32.3 million for the same period last year.
* In related news, Pizza Inn and Long John Silver's Restaurants have opened the two companies' first co-branded restaurant in Whitley City, Ky. The 3,200 square-foot, freestanding facility is owned by local entrepreneur Kirby Cordell, who also owns a Holiday Inn Express, and an Exxon c-store with Burger King and Taco Bell express concepts. The c-store lies adjacent to the new restaurant.
"We are offering consumers a variety of menus with four different restaurants located in the same vicinity," Cordell said. "Consumer reaction has been very positive."
Long John Silver's is owned by Yorkshire Global Restaurants, Inc., based in Lexington, Ky. It is the world's largest QSR seafood chain with 1,200 restaurants in 37 states.
