MONTREAL -- Saputo Inc. announced on March 11 that it acquired the assets of the ConAgra Foods' Whitehall, Pennsylvania, cheese facility. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The plant, which employs approximately 100 people, manufactures about 30 million pounds of mozzarella and provolone annually.

Saputo is the largest dairy processor in Canada and one of the leading cheese producers in North America, Saputo Inc. is a public company operating in the dairy and grocery products sectors. Among its brands are Saputo, Stella, Frigo, Dragone, Dairyland, Baxter, Armstrong, Caron, Cayer, Vachon and Granny's.
