LODI, Calif. -- PayStar Corporation announced Feb. 20 that it signed a joint marketing venture with New York City-based Paybox Global Holdings, Inc., to launch the PayStar PizzaFone in the U.S.
A release from PayStar said a national pizza franchisee will beta test the wireless payment system, but it didn't name the company. In a January release, the company said a handful of Domino's Pizza franchisees would participate in the test.
The start date for the test is yet undisclosed.
According to Bruce Grogg, senior vice president of PayStar, the PizzaFone uses standard cell phone technology to facilitate cashless transactions between delivery drivers and customers.
The transaction is completed using voice prompts and a predetermined PIN. Merchants are guaranteed 100 percent of their payment via an automatic credit to their bank accounts, and customers receive their purchases without handing cash, check, or credit card to the delivery person.
"The Paybox mobile payment system enables m-commerce to finally be effective and successful," said Ray Kasbarian, president and CEO of Paybox Global Holdings, Inc.
