National Restaurant Association president and CEO Dawn Sweeney is scheduled to deliver the lunch keynote at the second Pizza Executive Summit for C-level leaders in the pizza industry. Sweeney's June 14 keynote will address "leading the restaurant industry through profitability and entrepreneurship."
Health care reform legislation, the nation's fiscal health, and an aggressive legislative and regulatory climate in Washington pose challenges to America's restaurants. Sweeney's talk will offer an update on the state of the industry and what America's restaurants can do to create a business and public policy environment that supports industry growth.
Before joining the NRA, Sweeney was the president and CEO of AARP Services, where she quadrupled revenues for the organization. CEO Update magazine named Sweeney one of the top association CEOs in the U.S. in 2009. Founded in 1919, the NRA is the leading business association for the restaurant industry, which comprises nearly 1 million restaurant and foodservice outlets and a workforce of nearly 13 million employees. Sweeney also serves as the CEO of the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation.
The Pizza Executive Summit, the industry's premier event for C-level executive learning and collaboration, will be held June 13 – 15 in and around Chicago's new Hotel Palomar, a Kimpton property. This year's theme is "Collaborate, Innovate, Accelerate," reflecting executives' abilities to take part in invigorating discussions, discover new ideas for achieving excellence, and eventually implement these ideas to hasten success.
