A St. Petersburg, Russia-area developer of Papa John’s pizza, WorldWide Papa’s, plans to expand the brand in the region by 40 units in three years.
According to the St. Petersburg Times, this growth strategy also includes the opening of 200 new units in the area by 2020. The targeted market includes the Leningrad Oblast.
WorldWide Papa’s opened its first dine-in unit in St. Petersburg in 2005. Since then, the franchisee has generated some of the top sales among Papa John’s international locations.
Darrin Stock, CEO of WorldWide Papa’s, hopes to make the brand the biggest in the St. Petersburg area by 2012, and will offer delivery, take-out and family-style dine-in components.
Currently, WWP is developing its fifth restaurant, scheduled to open in early March.
Pizza Hut is a competitor in the market and currently has 11 units there.
Papa John’s International Inc. has more than 3,600 restaurants operating in 32 countries throughout the world.
