Australia's Eagle Boys Pizza is gearing up for a busy Easter weekend, with an anticipated sales increase of 30 percent between April 22 and April 26.
Helping drive the sales increase is the country's State of Origin nights (often considered the pinnacle of Australian rugby), the Melbourne Cup (Australia's major thoroughbred race) and Anzac Day, a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand to honor those who fought in World War I.
"With the Anzac Day public holiday giving Australians an extra day off, this Easter is expected to be one of the strongest we have seen for several years," said Todd Clayton, Eagle Boys' managing director. "At the same time, it coincides with school holidays when families are looking to take it easy and enjoy an affordable, but tasty meal."
Eagle Boys stores will be open throughout the entire weekend to meet high demand. Clayton said the chain is stocked as it expects to use more than 98 tons of mozzarella and 63 tons of pizza sauce to make more than 700,000 pizzas across the Easter break.
Extra staff also will be on hand.
