Wheat prices on the rise

Cheese

Average block cheese prices dropped two cents last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to $2.11. The previous week's average was $2.13.

Cheese prices closed at $2.12 Tuesday and dropped to $2.11 Wednesday, staying there through Friday.

Wheat

Wheat prices have finally come up after steadily dropping the past several weeks. Last week's average on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange was $8.54, a 20-cent increase from the previous week's $8.34. It was $9.37 two weeks ago.

Wheat closed at $8.69 Tuesday, $8.63 Wednesday, $8.53 Thursday and $8.31 Friday.

Gasoline and diesel fuel

Monday's nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $3.63, a 7-cent increase over last week's $3.56, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

Prices are also down from $3.71 a month ago, but remain a dollar higher than last year, when consumers were paying $2.71 at the pump.

Mid-range unleaded is $3.76, a 6-cent increase from last week's price, while today's premium unleaded price is $3.86, a 3-cent increase over last week.

The nationwide average for diesel fuel is $3.91, slightly higher than last week's price of $3.90. Although Diesel prices are down from $3.98 a month ago, they remain up from $2.95 a year ago.

Natural Gas

Nearly all pricing points were down overall for the week, some by more than 10 cents per million Btu (MMBtu). The Henry Hub price decreased 6 cents per MMBtu over the week (1.4 percent) to close at $4.34 per MMBtu on July 6.

Pizza company stocks

Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc dropped to $55.85 after hitting a 52-week high last week when shares were $56.72. Yum! traded at a 52-week low of $38.53 in July 2010.

Domino's hit a 52-week high for third week in a row as it finished at $26.07, up from last week's $25.64. Shares are also substantially higher over this time last year when the company traded as low as $12.21 in July 2010.

Papa John's dropped again this week coming in at $31.91, down from last week's $32.37. The company hit its 52-week high five weeks ago at $34.12. Papa John's traded at a 52-week low of $22.78 in July 2010.

Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, is down nearly a dollar from last week's 52-high of $42.18. It closed Friday at $41.46. CEC traded as low as $30.44 in August 2010.

California Pizza Kitchen closed at $18.51 Friday, up four cents from the previous week. CPKI traded as high as $20.79 in May 2010 and as low as $13.19 in July 2010.

Pizza Inn jumped to $3.26 hitting a new 52-week high for fourth week in a row. It finished at $3.08 last week, $2.82 and $2.50 the previous weeks, respectively. It traded as low as $1.77 in May 2010.
