Jubilant Foodworks, the Domino's franchisee in India, launched its online ordering system this week. According to the Hindustan Times, the company expects an overall sales boost this fiscal year from the introduction of the platform.
A pilot online ordering program was launched last year in Bangalore. Prior to the national rollout this week, the online component contributed about 4 percent of Domino's total sales in the country. Jubilant Foodworks expects that to increase to double-digit sales within the next few years.
The online ordering platform is integrated with social media sites including Facebook.
Online ordering has provided a major boost for Domino's in other countries, including the United Kingdom, which witnessed a 20-percent sales increase in 2010 after the launch of the platform.

"E-commerce is a growing business. In India, the penetration of internet is very low. However, in developed countries around 20-30 percent of sales comes online. Though it is difficult to say when such can achieve in India, we expect a huge double growth in the few years," said Harneet Singh Rajpal, Domino's Pizza India's vice president of marketing.
