Domino's UK has reported that it earned more than £1million (about $1.3 million) in online sales for Oct. 8 alone. Of that one-day record business, 13 percent came through mobile devices.
Chris Moore, CEO, said the company made a huge investment with online ordering a little more than 10 years ago, and it has continued to pay off.
"To put this achievement in context, 12 years ago we took £100k in online sales in a year, by 2000 we were taking £1m in a year and now we are taking £1million in a day. Now that's progress," he said.
Online sales have been a success story for the past couple of years for Domino's UK and Ireland. The company's 2010 sales were up almost 20 percent, attributable to the component.
