People Report and sister company Black Box Intelligence have announced the finalists for the 2011 Best Practices awards to be presented Nov. 3 at the annual "People, Profits, Planet" summit.
Companies that are being recognized for their achievements in creating thriving workplaces include: BJ's Restaurants Inc.; California Pizza Kitchen; The Capital Grille; The Cheesecake Factory; Corner Bakery Café; Eat'n Park Restaurants; la Madeleine; Logan's Roadhouse; McDonald's Inc.; Monical's Pizza; Red Lobster; and White Castle.
"These companies represent every segment of the industry, and range widely in number of restaurants, geographic locations and numbers of employees. However they are all making their workplace practices a cornerstone of their overall market presence," said Joni Thomas Doolin, founder and CEO of People Report.
The finalists are part of the 100-plus company People Report consortium and are considered leaders in the areas of management, hourly retention of employees, workplace diversity, and year-over-year improvement in results.
This year's finalists have also submitted details about their community involvement, corporate responsibility, employee funds and foundations, and initiatives in sustainable business practices.
"It is no coincidence that these 12 companies are also growing and adding new jobs in such a difficult economic environment. Every one of them believes that the commitment to their people and their communities are key reasons for their success," said Bill Schaffler, COO and CFO of People Report and Black Box Intelligence.
The four "Best Practices" winners will be announced at an awards luncheon during the consortium's 16th annual conference, held in Dallas Nov. 3.
