ArrowStream, a provider of supply chain management technology and logistics services for the foodservice industry, has launched ArrowScan, a handheld scanning device that could offer cost savings for restaurant operators by increasing speed and accuracy of inventory management.
ArrowStream has recently completed pilot studies with several restaurant chains, including Wendy's.

"In a short time, ArrowScan has driven more efficient store management, a measurable improvement in inventory accuracy, and most exciting, a reduction in our monthly food waste."
ArrowScan combines bar code scanning technology with a full-featured software interface to deliver back-of-house automation. ArrowScan users scan manufacturer bar codes to conduct high-speed order receiving that verifies every case received against the cases ordered.
The device also notifies distributors of damaged or shorted products with images of any damaged cases and guided inventory counts enable inventory capture of all product locations in a store. Additionally, The device tracks all inter-store transfers with two-tiered approval.
ArrowScan is linked into the ArrowStream Information Management System (AIMS) supply chain visibility platform. The platform provides restaurant operators with instant visibility into order, invoice and product details that are fed directly from distributor systems and mapped to chain and store-specific items, according to the press release. Additionally, users experience seamless transitions as new items are purchased and as vendor and SKU numbers change.
