For the fifth consecutive year, America's Incredible Pizza Company is supporting Emmanuel Ministries, a faith-based community serving underprivileged children in Juarez, Mexico.
Springfield, Mo.-based America's Incredible Pizza Company is a family entertainment center with nine national locations and two units in Mexico.
Juarez, a border city in Northern Mexico with a population of 1.3 million, has been called the Murder Capital of the World because of rampant drug cartels and gang violence. For more than 50 years, Emmanuel Ministries has been providing shelter, nourishment, education, medical care, and spiritual guidance to disadvantaged children living in these conditions.
Incredible Pizza, a company that bases its principals on Christian values, helps fund Emmanuel Ministries' mission. The company's fundraising has supported everything from playgrounds to shower room tiles and dormitories.
"Our business is all about the kids, and for the children of Juarez, we are trying to give back and help these children anyway we can," said Incredible Pizza founder Rick Barsness. "My wife, Cheryl, and I have traveled to Juarez several times in the past, but it has gotten so dangerous we can no longer visit. We've worked to send an 18 wheeler full of groceries, medical furniture for their in-house dentistry, and even a playground. It is always wonderful to hear the great success stories coming out of Emmanuel Ministries."
