Papa John's Pizza plans to expand its footprint in the UK from 185 to more than 200 by the end of this year.
According to FranchiSeek, there are currently 88 franchisees in the country operating those 185 outlets. Nine new stores have already opened this year. Dave Galvin, UK franchise sales manager at Papa John's, said the company is on target to reach the 200-plus goal by year's end.
Papa John's currently has more than 3,900 stores worldwide and is rapidly expanding in 33 markets. Papa John's has opportunities for potential franchisees in the key locations of Yorkshire, Manchester, West Midlands, East Midlands, South West, North East, Wales & Scotland.
During its most recent earnings call earlier this month, Papa John's reported the most net new units in a quarter – 50 – since 2000.
Founder/chairman/CEO John Schnatter said that internationally the momentum has continued for the company, with comp sales over 8 percent despite strong competition overseas.
International revenues increased $4.1 million, or 32.1 percent, primarily due to an increase in the number of restaurants and an increase in comparable sales of 8.4 percent calculated on a constant dollar basis.
