Shopkick, a location-based shopping app that rewards shoppers simply for walking into stores and interacting with products, has selected Giftango as a key provider of digital eGift card fulfillment.

Papa John's is one of shopkick's initial launch partners with Giftango. Other brands that have signed on include Lowe's, Chili's Grill and Bar and Fandango. Fourteen additional retailers are set to launch the program in the coming weeks.

Giftango's platform connects shopkick users with their gift card of choice to deliver rewards instantly. Through a secure and consistent user experience across the entire mobile gifting environment, Giftango's channel partner solutions and mobile API allow any loyalty partner to navigate a brand's eGift card program.

Shopkick's app allows consumers to earn reward points, called "kicks," for walking into and making a purchase at participating retailers, and interacting with partner brand products. Kicks can be redeemed for in-store gift cards, among other rewards.

Launched in August, 2010, shopkick has more than 3 million active users and has surpassed 1 billion in-app deals and offers viewed.

"With Giftango we have a one-stop shop for gift card redemption that provides shopkick users with a wide variety of reward options."

The free shopkick app is available for the iPhone and Android.

Five students earn Better Slice scholarships

Additionally, five Southern Nevada high school students received financial assistance to pursue higher education through Papa John's "A Better Slice for Education" Scholarship Program.

Designed to support education and strengthen community ties with students, schools, parents and teachers, Las Vegas Valley high school seniors Shelby Bagley, Stephanie Chen-Huynh, Adwoa Fosu, Brooklyn Nenneman and Jocelyn Sanchez became the first recipients of Papa John's "A Better Slice for Education" Scholarship Program, with each receiving $1,000.

"Papa John's is the quality leader and our first class of scholarship winners represents the best and brightest of today's youth and tomorrow's leaders," said Jim Polito, Papa John's director of operations. "With educational resources shrinking, we launched 'A Better Slice for Education' last year and committed to helping Las Vegas Valley high school seniors pursue a higher education."
