Today, Congressman John Carter (R-Texas) is introducing the Menu Labeling Reform Bill in the House of Representatives, which includes a number of tweaks to cater to the pizza industry.
Attending the event are two Domino's Pizza franchisees and a spokesperson from the American Pizza Community, an organization representing owners of pizza stores throughout the country.
Carter will be joined by fellow House Members, including Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and Rubén Hinojosa (D-Texas), as well as representatives from the convenience store, grocery and pizza industries.
The American Pizza Community was formed earlier this year in part to advocate for policies affecting these companies and operators of all sizes. Issues include reasonable menu labeling information, fair wages and labor policies, tax reform and commodity policies.
Menu labeling has been a hot topic for pizza operators, who contend they need greater flexibility than what's currently proposed as part of the Affordable Health Care Law.
