Domino's Pizza Australia has reported a 26 percent boost in profit for the year, with $26.9 million as of June 30, compared to $21.4 million during the same period last year.
According to The Australian, the company expects to add another 13 percent in profit by June 2013 behind the staggering growth of its digital sales.
CEO Don Meij said the company expects more than 60 percent of its orders to come through digital orders this year. By comparison, online sales accounted for 1 percent of all sales in 2005.
Currently, 40 percent of today's digital sales come from smartphones. The system is planning to launch a new iPad app soon, where customers can "create" their own pizzas.
Domino's also expects to have 75 new stores open by this time next year.
"The whole digital exposure means we're getting more business, and more business means we need more shops to handle all that," Meij said. "We aspire to other digital retailers and say, well, who has best practices and how do we, in our space, learn and lead?"
Nigeria debut
Additionally, Domino's planted its flag in Nigeria this week. To get the word out, the company gave away free pizzas for two hours in Lagos, according to Bellanaija.
