President and CEO of Unique Pizza and Subs, James Vowler, opened the first store in Millvale, Penn. According to Unique Pizza and Subs' website, a main goal was to "achieve the consistency of a large franchise with the quality of a 'mom and pop' shop." The franchise strives to use consistent methodologies, high quality products at affordable prices and to create a friendly work environment. Unique Pizza and Subs recently signed a Letter of Intent to buy the organic-based franchise, Pizza Fusion. Vowler said, "Because Pizza Fusion and Unique Pizza's menus and concepts are so different, we [will] be able to coalesce our experience and help grow both great pizza franchises." Unique Pizza and Subs offers catering and fundraising services for social functions, sports, school, work and church events. *Since the publication of the Top 100 report, the acquisition of Pizza Fusion has been finalized.
