Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint is planning to grow its footprint in the Tampa/Clearwater, Fla., market and recently held a meeting with potential franchisees to kick start that strategy.
The Atlanta-based brand is on track to open two new locations per month in 2013. Uncle Maddio's has already sold out the Atlanta, Louisville, Ky., Savannah, Ga., and Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Fla., markets.
Uncle Maddio's launched its fast casual pizza concept three years ago in Atlanta. By the spring of next year, there will be 20 restaurant franchises open and 125 more in development throughout the Southeast.
The brand was founded by Chief Pizza Maker Matt Andrew, who is also co-founder and president of Moe's Southwest Grill. He claims there are more than 3 million pizza combinations on the Uncle Maddio's menu, which includes three types of crusts, six sauces, seven cheeses and 47 fresh toppings. Those toppings include locally-sourced vegetables delivered fresh daily, free-range and hormone-free chicken, organic greens, and handmade meatballs and sausages. In addition to pizza, the chain serves toasted Panini and gourmet salads.
