Organizing its first ever Holiday Food Drive, Irving, Texas-based Chuck E. Cheese's 16 Dallas-Fort Worth stores recently provided an entertainment hub where families could donate canned goods and money for the North Texas and Tarrant Area Food Banks.

These families raised more than $2,900 and brought in more than 1,600 pounds of food for the food banks.

Both the NTFB and TAFB work toward a year-round mission of helping feed the 700,000 North Texans — one in six people in each local community — living in hunger. In November, TAFB estimated that it would need 2 million pounds of canned food while the NTFB needed $7 million to help put nutritious food on holiday tables this year and into the next.

"We couldn't be happier with the results of our first Holiday Food Drive. We are especially pleased with the fact that all the effort children and parents put in to help others this holiday season will benefit our friends and neighbors in DFW throughout the New Year," said Scott McDaniel, chief marketing officer at CEC Entertainment Inc., Chuck E. Cheese's parent company. "Chuck E. Cheese's is proud to be a place where families can come together to celebrate the special holidays and create lasting memories. It's these memories that are the most rewarding for those families who learned about charitable giving while having fun, playing games and winning prizes with us this year."

During the Holiday Food Drive, guests had the opportunity to contribute directly through a cash donation and/or bringing canned goods and non-perishable food items to participating Chuck E. Cheese's stores. For each non-perishable food item or $1 donation, guests were rewarded with 10 free tickets, without limit.

The proceeds will be divided amongst the two food banks and distributed through their networks to the communities they serve.
