The Domino's UK system has reported a 20-percent jump in sales in the final quarter of 2012, attributable mostly to an increase in online and mobile ordering.
According to The Times, Domino's UK also hit its first £2 million (about $3.2M U.S.) single-day e-commerce sales during the quarter.
Much of that traffic came from mobile devices. The company's mobile platform's sales jumped 187 percent following the launch of its app. Mobile orders now account for 20 percent of all online orders.
Delivery vehicles of the future
Also, Domino's locations in Swindon, England, now feature two Renault Twizys for their delivery orders. According to Auto Evolution, the Twizy doesn't emit noxious gases and is an aesthetic and cost-effective choice for the brand.
Japan tops the price point
In other Domino's news from overseas, its Japan system has debuted a limited-time Kobe Beef Steak Pizza. According to Eater.com, the pie is topped with potato, onion and deluxe steak sauce, in addition to the high-priced Kobe beef, and retails for about $66.50.
