California-based Straw Hat Pizza has been around for more than 50 years, using locally grown produce long before it was trendy. The company controls every field of fresh tomatoes used in its sauce. The menu is free from transfats and only premium grade meats are used. The company's boxes and napkins are made from 100-percent recycled products. Straw Hat recently launched a reimaging effort as part of its strategy to grow outside of core markets. Some locations are co-branded with the Tower 27 frozen yogurt concept. Restaurants are designed specifically for family dining time, with game rooms and TV booths. The company introduced the Hot Hat stuffed sandwich in the 1970s, which has since become a trademark item.
