Neapolitan Express, a New York City-based pizza food truck, has been recognized by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg for its green features.
According to Crain's New York, the truck uses natural gas and electricity for power. It partnered with Clean Energy Fuels Corp., which is directed by T. Boone Pickens.
Bloomberg said the truck is an example of how to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
Additionally, Neapolitan Express includes refrigeration and ovens that run on electricity, charged via solar panels on the truck rooftop. Also, the concept's pizza boxes are made from recycled materials.
Neapolitan Express is based in East Harlem. The company plans to convert at least 12 more trucks to natural gas.
