Scott Anthony, a Fox's Pizza Den operator in Punxsutawney, Pa., has received the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association's Good Neighbor Award last weekend.
Anthony, who is also a member of the National Restaurant Association's Pizza Industry Council, was also recently named the 2012 Man of the Year at the Punxsutawney Groundhog Banquet in February, according to the Punxsutawney Spirit.
According to the PR&LA, "The Neighbor Award raises awareness about the restaurant industry's contributions in local communities across the country." It was created 15 years ago by the NRA.
Anthony was selected as a state winner for facilitating Fox's Pizza's annual Pizza & Prevention campaign, which supports firefighters in the community. The campaign has been held since 2002. In that time, Fox's Pizza Den has donated more than $170,000 for equipment upgrades, as well as more than 3,000 smoke detectors.
"There are certain organizations that we hold dear, and we really put forth an effort and try to treat everybody equally and you just do what you can," Anthony told the publication. "I just want to thank everyone in the community for supporting the various fundraisers we do and thanks to PR&LA for choosing Fox's for this high honor."
Anthony recently provided marketing tips on a shoestring budget during the 2013 North America Pizza and Ice Cream Show in Columbus, Ohio.
