A 200-person interfaith rally, facilitated by a clergy coalition, will be held in New York City today to support the city's 50,000 quick-service workers who are protesting for higher wages.
The workers are part of the Fast Food Forward campaign, which formed late last year. Specifically, employees are asking for $15 an hour and the right to form a union "without intimidation."
At the rally, the clergy coalition will announce its first actions, which include "taking the issue of low-wage work directly to their congregants, and mobilizing their congregations to adopt restaurants in support of the workers' campaign," according to a news release.
The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Flatbush Reform Church in Brooklyn.
