Toledo, Ohio-based Marco's Pizza has been listed on the Franchise Business Review's ninth annual Top 200 Franchises list.
To compile the list, Franchise Business Review, a nationwide market research firm, surveyed 26,000 franchisees with 350 brands, asking them to rank their franchise system in dozens of areas such as leadership, operations and product development, and training and support. According to a news release, all of the brands on the list scored above-average marks for franchisee satisfaction.
"Marco's has created procedures that allow people with every type of background to easily learn the steps it takes to make a good product and run a successful store," said Chase Kintz, area representative for Marco's in Denver. "Those are the easy things to learn. What it takes to be successful is commitment, drive, focus and the desire to be your own boss."
Marco's, founded in 1978, grew by 33 percent last year, adding 109 restaurants, and the company anticipates hitting the 500-store mark later this year.
Houston and Columbus, Ohio, expansion
Also this week, Marco's announced plans to open eight locations in the Houston market. This will bring the area's footprint to more than 100 stores within the next five years, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Robert Pina, area developer, will open some of the stores and recruit other franchisees to open more locations throughout the market.
Additionally, the Columbus Dispatch reported today that Marco's is planning to open at least 10 units in the Columbus, Ohio, market within the next two years, under the leadership of area rep David Knoles.
Knoles recently opened 20 Marco's Pizza stores in Cincinnati.
