Cheese Block cheese prices trended downward last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, averaging just under $1.37 per pound. Prices were off 7 cents from the previous week. Prices closed at just under $1.40 on Monday and Tuesday, $1.37 on Wednesday, under $1.35 and $1.34 on Friday. Wheat Wheat closed at just under $5.17 per bushel Friday on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, up 14 cents from the previous week's close of $5.03. Prices for wheat closed at just under $5.17 Monday, under $5.07 Tuesday, $5.13 per bushel Wednesday and $5.03 per bushel Thursday. Gasoline and diesel fuel The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.70 per gallon March 1, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, up 5 cents from the previous week. Prices are up slightly from an average of $2.68 per gallon a month ago and up 41 percent from an average of $1.91 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $2.87 per gallon while premium unleaded as of March 1 stood at $2.98 per gallon. The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $2.86 per gallon March 1, up 2 cents from last week. Diesel prices are up 30 percent from an average of $2.21 per gallon this time last year. Natural gas prices declined across the board last week, continuing a downward trend from the previous week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The Henry Hub natural gas spot price closed at $4.91 per million Btu (MMBtu) on Feb. 24, a decline of about 10 percent from $5.47 per MMBtu the previous week.
Pizza company stocks Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $33.70 on Feb. 26, down 9 cents compared with the previous week's close of $33.79. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $36.96 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of $23.37 in March 2009. Domino's closed at $12.43, up 15 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $12.28. DPZ has traded as high as $12.78 in February 2010 and as low as $5.61 in March 2009, over the past 52 weeks. Papa John's stock closed at $24.59, up $1.57 compared with the previous Friday's close of $23.02. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $29.25 in May 2009 and a 52-week low of $20.82 in March 2009. Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $35.16, up 48 cents compared with the previous week's close of $34.68. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $36.21 in February 2010 and a 52-week low of $19.50 in March 2009. California Pizza Kitchen closed at $15.25 on Feb. 26, up 18 cents from the previous week's close of $15.07. CPKI traded as high as $17.44 in mid-April and as low as $9.41 in March 2009. Pizza Inn closed at $1.66 on Feb. 26, down 4 cents from the previous week's close of $1.70. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.25 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of 98 cents in April 2009.
