California-based Domain Development Corp. has named Ed Zimmerman the president of Pizza.com, according to a company release. DDC is a Web site domain management and holding company, and the parent organization of pizza.com, skiresorts.com, divorce.com and other full-service Web domains.
"In Ed, we have found both the pizza industry experience and technical expertise we were looking for," said Ken Lawson, company founder and CEO of DDC. "Plus, he is someone with a real passion for building a business that will deliver value to consumers, pizza operators and pizza industry partners."
The announcement of Zimmerman to head Pizza.com represents a new growth phase for the organization, as it prepares for the public launch of its Web site and brand rollout.
"Pizza.com will give consumers new tools to easily order pizza online and have it delivered, get pizza coupons, and learn about promotional offers every day," said Zimmerman. "Additional services will roll out, including online ordering with Smartphone connectivity – including an iPhone app – plus pizza games and pizza clubs for kids."
With more than 35 years in the food industry, Zimmerman has run restaurants and grocery store departments, managed wholesale bakeries, worked extensively in the industry as a consultant, and served as president/CEO of two food marketing and technology companies. In addition, he helped launch Bellissimo Foods, a foodservice marketing group that is the largest pizzeria distribution network in the United States.
"I am gratified to be working with a world-class team to bring these exciting new services to the pizza industry," said Zimmerman. "Pizza.com will become the single-best online destination for pizza consumers to connect with pizzerias to find and order pizza locally."
