Pizza Hut's iPhone app, released this past summer, is featured in an Apple-sponsored iPhone commercial, according to a story in Advertising Age. While officials from Pizza Hut's digital agency IMC2 had planned to contact Apple and campaign for a place in one of its commercials, Apple contacted them first.
The commercial appeared this week during "House," "The Big Bang Theory" and "Monday Night Football."
The impact of the ad appearance will be hard to quantify, officials said. However, the iBird Explorer app, a field guide for birdwatchers, made a seven-second appearance in an Apple commercial and quickly became the No. 1 reference app in a 35,000 app category.
