CHICAGO -- Block cheese prices remained fairly flat last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, with prices averaging just under $1.15 per pound for the trading week ended June 5, unchanged from the previous week. Block cheese prices closed at just above $1.15 per pound Monday and Tuesday and just under $1.15 per pound Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Prices are off $1.03, or 47 percent, compared with this time last year, when block cheese averaged $2.18 per pound. Wheat Wheat for July delivery closed at just above $7.43 per bushel Friday on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, just off a few cents from the previous Friday's close. Wheat had closed at $7.95 per bushel Monday, $7.93 per bushel Tuesday, just above $7.33 per bushel Wednesday and just above $7.61 per bushel on Thursday. Gasoline and diesel fuel The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.61 per gallon June 6, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, up 11 cents from the previous week. Prices are up 20 percent from an average of $2.17 per gallon a month ago and off 35 percent from an average of $3.99 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded averaged $2.77 per gallon while premium unleaded stood at $2.87 per gallon. The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $2.51 per gallon June 6, up a penny from last week. Diesel prices are off 47 percent from an average of $4.75 per gallon this time last year. Natural gas spot prices rose at most market locations in the lower 48 states last week, with increases ranging up to 45 cents per million Btu, according to the Energy Information Administration. Prices at the Henry Hub climbed by 32 cents per MMBtu, or about 9 percent, to $3.81 per MMBtu. Pizza company stocks Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $35.76 on June 5, up $1.13 cents compared with the previous Friday's close. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $40.25 in May 2008 and a 52-week low of $21.50 in November 2008. Domino's closed at $8.90, off 16 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $9.06. Over the past 52 weeks, DPZ has traded as high as $14.20 in May 2008 and as low as $2.61 in November 2008. Papa John's stock closed at $27.90, up 80 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $27.10. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $30.68 in September 2008 and a 52-week low of $12.78 in November 2008. Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $33.02, up 89 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $32.13. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $39.59 in August 2008 and a 52-week low of $12.96 in November 2008. California Pizza Kitchen closed at $13.40 on June 5, off 55 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $13.95. Over the past 52 weeks, CPKI has traded as high as $17.44 in mid-April and as low as $5.24 in November 2008. Pizza Inn closed at $1.65 on June 5, up 6 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $1.59. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.72 in October 2008 and a 52-week low of 98 cents in April 2009.
